[When Hawke gets back from whatever task he's been doing for whatever stranger he ran into today, he might notice an overturned coffee cup on the table, with a cat sniffing curiously at its spilled contents. And there are also splashing noises coming from the bathroom.]
No, Pearl, stay in. Here's the ball, you want to play with the ball?
[If he decides to investigate, he might notice a coffee-stained shirt on the floor. And an equally coffee stained pair of pants. And a nearly-naked Anders crouched over the bathtub.]
I'm not sure you should be drinking the water you're bathing in.
[How astute, Hawke has noticed all of these things. He even has the presence of mind to shoo the curious cat away from the spilled coffee, in case it thinks it needs to taste it, before following the splashing sounds and the trail of clothing toward the bathroom.
Upon reaching the bathroom doorway Hawke pauses, and leans against the door frame in order to take the time to fully appreciate the scene before him.]
What's going on? How come no one invited me to puppy bath time?
[Anders turns to look at Hawke over his shoulder, offering a brief smile. Pearl is very excited though, jumping up and trying to get her paws up on the edge of the bath, yipping excitedly. Too bad she's still too small to be seen.]
Hello, love. I... had to wash her.
[whoops feeling guilty, even as Pearl keeps trying to get Hawke's attention. She can smell him there, he better come say hi!]
[Of course Hawke will come into the bathroom properly to see his dog. He'll even lean over the edge of the bath to pet her wet little head, at great risk of getting his own clothes wet due to the splashes wiggly little dogs tend to make. (Although at least she's not a mabari...the entire bathroom would be dripping if that were the case!)]
What happened?
[Although the spilled coffee and stained, abandoned clothing out in the living area do give him some clue...]
She got scared. [she's so tiny!] But she seems to have forgotten about it now.
[the kiss does help, and he'll tug Hawke down next to him. They can both play with Pearl for a bit. She's currently trying to catch a tiny blue ball in her mouth, but it keeps slipping away from her.]
[He lets himself be tugged down, and kneels on the floor next to Anders to watch the dog paddle around in the tub.]
And she needs to be more careful when getting underfoot.
[He may love the little puffball, but he's by no means blind to her faults. Her desire to be close often has her more underfoot than is safe either for her or the people around her.
He reaches out to catch the little blue ball she's trying so diligently to get, and offers it to her. She takes it from his fingers into her mouth with a happy yip, though it's not long at all before she lets it go in order to return chasing after it.]
She could stand to be more careful about laps, too.
[If Anders is worried Hawke is going to be upset, then he's worried for nothing. Accidents happen, and if they're going to happen, Anders would be the person Hawke would want to have around to take care of things afterward.]
She should sleep well tonight, at least.
[Look at how hard she's paddling with her stumpy little legs after her ball! She is the most adorable.]
[He did take good care of her! He healed her before healing herself, and made sure to wash all the coffee out of her fur. And then made sure she forgot about all the trauma.
He sure acts like he hates dogs, doesn't he.]
She does get tired really easily.
[Although for now she is full of energy! And so determined to catch that ball! If only her splashing wasn't just sending it further away.]
It's a good thing you've got me around then, isn't it?
[Because training isn't a mystery to him. Maybe a little frustrating at times, because Pearl, for all her willingness to do what is asked of her, is no mabari, so understanding is not as quick as Hawke sometimes might wish.
But she's still a doll, regardless.]
Maybe, although I honestly doubt she realizes how tiny she really is.
With a personality as big as hers, it probably hasn't even occurred to her.
[He says as she yips and dives for her ball! It eludes her once again, but that doesn't discourage her! She'll keep paddling around in circles forever if they let her. Or until she gets tired, whichever happens first.]
[action]

Re: [action]
[He has to reassure Hawke of that, a if he'd ever suspect anything else. But she'd been so scared!]
Re: [action]
Of course you did, love. As if I even had to worry about that!
[He leans down to place a kiss on Anders' forehead, hoping to smooth away the lines of worry there.]
Re: [action]

Have you been playing with her long?
Re: [action]
[He hadn't wanted to blame her, but... it really was her fault. Anders had been burned, too! Although at least his clothes offered some protection.
He leans into Hawke a little, one arm around his back, although he'll keep his attention on Pearl.]
I'm not sure. Maybe about fifteen minutes.
[look at how happy she is splashing after her ball it's adorable.]

Re: [action]
[This is really nice, leaning on Anders, watching Pearl splash around...!]
It must take a lot of energy to keep those tiny legs going the way she does.
Re: [action]
[Anders is slowly getting better at giving her orders, too. Little by little.
And is Hawke enjoying the fact he's only wearing his smallclothes, then?]
It's almost impressive how fast she can get for someone so small.
Re: [action]
[He's slowly getting better about tolerating her, too! Don't think Hawke hasn't noticed.
And of course Hawke is enjoying Anders' lack of clothing, why wouldn't he be?]
Shorter legs can go faster than longer ones, maybe?
Re: [action]
[She's part of the family! It was only a matter of time.
Just pointing it out.]
Maybe she's making up for the fact she's so small.

Re: [action]
[Although if Hawke wasn't around, there also wouldn't be a dog around, since she belongs to him and not Anders. It's definitely worth it, though.
And she kind of is. Maybe.]
How can she not?

Re: [action]
[...okay, even he is finding this adorable. Pearl, you are never going to succeed, not if you keep trying the same way each time.]
Re: [action]
[YOU DON'T KNOW THAT GRUMPY PAPA SHE WILL GET THAT BALL EVENTUALLY!!!!]
[Except she really won't, but shhh, don't tell her that!]
Re: [action]
[hey, the chase is the fun part, right??]
Re: [action]
[He asks as he leans in to kiss Anders' cheek.]
Re: [action]
Re: [action]
[From there he'll move down to nuzzling against Anders' neck. Enjoy the scratchy beard there.]
Re: [action]
[He does enjoy that, actually. It's sending a shiver down his back, in fact, so he's just going to turn and wrap his arms properly around Hawke.]
